Continuous molding

Pultrusion of FRP material

We are conducting research and development for in order to produce FRP reinforcement bars for concrete by pultrusion, which will be used as substitutes for rebar, we aim to achieve high-speed molding of FRP rod material that does not corrode with a long service life, is light weight and inexpensive.

In the prior art, a monomer is used as the main agent and considerable amount of time is required for the curing reaction and polymerization reaction. Therefore, it is difficult to increase the molding speed. On the other hand, our method does not involve a reaction because it uses a melt impregnation method. Therefore, high-speed molding is possible, and the targeted molding speed is 1 m/s (3600 m/h).By realizing ultra-high-speed pultrusion, it is possible to develop low-cost FRP rebar. The material is polypropylene (PP),which is inexpensive and has excellent alkali resistance as amatrix polymer.Alkali resistant glass fiber (GF),basalt fiber (BF) and Carbon fiber (CF) are used as the fibers. As for the molding and evaluations of FRP rod, we evaluate the performance from microscale to actual structures.
